Alumni Hall has been home to the UVA Alumni Association since 1936—welcoming generations of graduates, hosting cherished traditions, and serving as a spirited hub for Hoos of all ages.

To honor that legacy and meet the needs of a growing global alumni community, we’re building a new home: Aggarwal Hall, named in recognition of a transformational gift from the Aggarwal Family. The new building will sit on the same parcel at 211 Emmet Street, carrying forward the history and heart of Alumni Hall while creating a modern, welcoming space for generations to come. Construction began September 1, 2025, with an anticipated opening in Spring 2027.

While the construction site is closed, you’re welcome to take a look from the sidewalk. This exciting project is also why BAW check‑in and other activities traditionally held at Alumni Hall are happening at different locations across Grounds this year.

Learn more about Aggarwal Hall on our website—we can’t wait to welcome you home in Spring 2027!

The UVA Alumni Association is committed to making BAW an inclusive and accessible experience for everyone. When you purchase your ticket for BAW, you’ll have the option on the registration form to indicate if you require any disability-related accommodations to successfully participate in the event. If you do require an accommodation, a member of our team will email you about your request.

However, the most direct way to access many BAW events is by foot, often on uneven terrain, due to lack of parking/vehicular access immediately surrounding the Lawn. If you have a valid disabled permit or license plate displayed, you may park in an accessible parking space anywhere on Grounds—including spots along McCormick Rd. near the Lawn. Additionally, accessible University Transit (UTS) buses will provide looping shuttle service to many BAW events.

Accommodations in Charlottesville fill quickly on spring weekends! We recommend securing yours as soon as possible for BAW. For information and availability, check out the Charlottesville Visitors Bureau.

Check in for BAW will take place at Newcomb Hall. Here, you’ll receive your nametag, which serves as your ticket for the events you’ve registered to attend, and other information. Free parking will be available at the Central Grounds Parking Garage (adjacent to Newcomb Hall).

Check-in is open during the following hours:

Thursday, April 9
2–6 p.m.
Friday, April 10
9 a.m.–7 p.m.
Saturday, April 11
9 a.m.–2 p.m.

The attire for all BAW events is casual, and we encourage alumni to dress so that they feel comfortable and festive. Check out photos from BAW 2024 and 2022 for examples of the wide variety of attire!

Spring weather in Virginia is unpredictable, so please plan for a variety of weather scenarios. Additionally, indoor locations are heavily air-conditioned; please bring a jacket, shawl, or sweater to ensure you stay comfortable.

BAW is family friendly! We welcome you to bring partners, family members, and children of all ages as your guests. Please note that some BAW events are reserved for alumni and registered guests who are 21 years or older.  Below are some specific events we have planned for families:

  • Friday, April 10:
    • 1–2 p.m. Making Music in the Library
  • Saturday, April 11:
    • 9–10 a.m. Adventures in STEM with Dr. Rhea Miles
    • 12:30–3 p.m. Balloon artist and face painting at the Cookout

Visit the Charlottesville Albemarle Visitors Bureau’s website for family-friendly area attractions.

The Alumni Association is taking steps to make BAW a zero-waste event. By that, we mean that 90% or more of the waste generated by BAW events is recycled or composted instead of being hauled to a landfill.

Here’s what you can expect to see on Grounds during Reunions:

  • Reduced paper at check-in. Instead of printing paper agendas for each guest, we’ll rely on the use of a mobile app and website for information sharing.
  • More sustainable hydration. Instead of using plastic water bottles at events, you’ll find refill stations (to be used with compostable cups or your own beverage container).
  • Composting at large events featuring food and beverage. Plates, cups, utensils and napkins at your evening class events will either be compostable or reusable.
  • Multiple types of waste bins. Instead of just trash bins, you’ll see recycling, composting, and trash bins at large events featuring food and beverage. If you’re not sure where to toss an item, refer to the signage on the bins or ask a member of the catering team.

The UVA Alumni Association works with the Office of Emergency Management to make decisions on whether to hold events outdoors or indoors, and these decisions often must be made as early as 9 a.m. for the entire day. This early call gives our partners (caterers, rental companies, AV/lighting companies, University facilities, event staff, etc.) time to adjust their logistics and move materials for these large-scale events.

Please know that we want nothing more than to host all our events (especially dinners) in their original outdoor locations. However, the reality of spring in Virginia is that we must make the best decision we can with the information we have at the time we have it.

Inclement weather locations are listed in the description of each event. If the Alumni Association makes the decision to move an event, you will receive an email from the Alumni Association, and if you opt to download the UVA Alumni Events app, you will receive a push notification. Updates will also be listed on the BAW website and within the UVA Alumni Events app. If you do not receive a message, the event is taking place outdoors as scheduled.

Follow these steps to connect to UVA’s Guest Wi-Fi network while on Grounds:

  1. Connect to the UVA Guest WiFi network
  2. A pop-up window should open automatically (if the page doesn’t appear, open a browser and go to in.virginia.edu/guest)
  3. Click Connect Now to agree to the Terms of Use. You should now be connected.
