While at UVA, Chris was an active member of the Eta Sigma Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc, the Black Engineering Society and Air Force ROTC. After working for a few years on Wall Street, Chris returned to school and received his Doctor of Laws from Emory University School of Law.<\/p>\n<p>Since graduating from law school, Chris has practiced as a commercial transactions lawyer, representing some of the world\u2019s largest companies in their business-critical technology, financial services and sourcing deals. A partner in major law firms since 2001, Chris has been consistently ranked by such organizations as Best Lawyers, Chambers USA, Chambers Global and Legal 500.<\/p>\n<p>Married to a UVA alumna and the father of three (one a 2015 UVA grad), Chris is active in a number of community and professional organizations and his church, where he serves as a Bible teacher.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span class=\"h5\"><strong>Sherlonda Goode-Jones (<abbr title=\"McIntire School of Commerce\">Com<\/abbr> <span class=\"visually-hidden\">class of <\/span>\u201995, <abbr title=\"Darden School of Business\">Darden<\/abbr> <span class=\"visually-hidden\">class of <\/span>\u201901)<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>First Vice Chair<\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1770\" src=\"https:\/\/uvaalumni.org\/ridley\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/44\/2024\/07\/sherlonda_goode-jones.webp\" alt=\"Sherlonda Goode-Jones\" width=\"240\" height=\"300\" \/>Sherlonda Goode-Jones is a recognized industry veteran in consulting with more than 23 years of commercial and public sector experience across the financial services, transportation, and pharmaceuticals industries. A partner at Guidehouse, Goode-Jones leads the Public Sector Financial Services practice. In her current role, she and her practice teams provide advisory services to government agencies with federal credit programs or other mission or operating objectives that involve financial institutions, the capital markets, and the companies that serve them as counterparties or regulated entities.<\/p>\n<p>She also leads teams that provide advisory services to federal agencies and commercial financial institutions involved in housing finance, financial stabilization, mortgage servicing, and credit operations. She has helped to transform the service operations of some of the largest federal credit programs, while providing transaction services to billion-dollar portfolios for housing and small business loans.<\/p>\n<p>Goode-Jones is a board member of the Boys and Girls Club of Washington DC, the Maret School Board of Trustees, and the University of Virginia Ridley Scholars Program; serves in various roles with the Washington DC Chapter of Jack and Jill of the America, Metropolitan DC Chapter of the Links, Incorporated; and is a member of 2020 class of Leadership Greater Washington. In March 2021, she was a\u00a0<em>Washington Business Journal<\/em>\u00a0Diversity in Business Award honoree. In March 2022, she received a Global Leader in Consulting Award from\u00a0<em>Consulting Magazine<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Goode-Jones received her MBA from the Darden School of Business (2001), UVA, where she completed international business studies at the International University of Japan, and her BS in Finance and Marketing from the McIntire School of Commerce, UVA (<abbr title=\"McIntire School of Commerce\">Com<\/abbr> <span class=\"visually-hidden\">class of <\/span>\u201995).<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span class=\"h5\"><strong>Stacy Hawkins (<abbr title=\"College of Arts &amp; Sciences\">Col<\/abbr> <span class=\"visually-hidden\">class of <\/span>\u201993)<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>Second Vice Chair<\/em><\/span><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1771\" src=\"https:\/\/uvaalumni.org\/ridley\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/44\/2024\/07\/Stacy-Hawkins.webp\" alt=\"Stacy Hawkins\" width=\"240\" height=\"300\" \/>Stacy Hawkins graduated from UVA with a Bachelor of Arts degree in rhetoric &amp; communication studies. While at the University, Stacy was a member of Black Enterprisers, volunteered with the local Charlottesville chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, and served as a Resident Assistant. She then went on to earn her Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, Stacy is an award-winning scholar and Professor of Law at Rutgers Law School. From 2021 \u2013 2023, she served as the Rutgers Law School Vice Dean in Camden.\u00a0 Prior to teaching, she spent more than a decade in private practice. She served as Special Diversity Counsel to Holland &amp; Knight, LLP and was the first Diversity Director for Ballard Spahr, LLP. Stacy has held or holds a number of professional and civic appointments, including as a member of the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Diversity, Inclusion &amp; Community Engagement, as an Advisory Board Member of the Public Interest Law Center, and as an inaugural member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Diversity Team.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span class=\"h5\"><strong>Kelly Garnes-Pages (<abbr title=\"College of Arts &amp; Sciences\">Col<\/abbr> <span class=\"visually-hidden\">class of <\/span>\u201903)<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>Treasurer<\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-1772\" src=\"https:\/\/uvaalumni.org\/ridley\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/44\/2024\/07\/Kelly_Garnes.webp\" alt=\"Kelly Garnes-Pages\" width=\"240\" height=\"300\" \/>Kelly Garnes grew up in Brooklyn, New York and is the proud daughter of immigrants. She graduated from UVA with a BA in History and a minor in African American Studies. She is a proud alumna of the Theta Kappa Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. At the University, Kelly served as a leader on UVA\u2019s Resident Staff and a mentor to children through organizations such as the Girl Scouts. Kelly then went on to earn her Ed.M. in administration, planning and social policy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She served in various roles in education ranging from classroom teacher to Director of College and Career Services at KIPP. Kelly earned an MBA from Columbia Business School. During business school, Kelly served as Co-President of Columbia Women in Business, the school\u2019s largest student run organization. After business school, Kelly joined Citibank where she helped to provide analytics and financial modeling to help expand various business lines including consumer credit, commercial banking, and mortgages.<\/p>\n<p>Kelly decided to merge her passion for education and business by taking on various c-level positions at educational organizations. She is currently the Chief Financial Officer at Gill St. Bernard\u2019s School in Gladstone, New Jersey. In this role she leads the school\u2019s finance, real estate, human resources, risk management, technology, health and safety divisions. She lives in New Jersey with her husband and their three young children.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"dots orange\" \/>\n<h2>Board Members<\/h2>\n<h3><span class=\"h5\"><strong>Tyler Ambrose (<abbr title=\"College of Arts &amp; Sciences\">Col<\/abbr> <span class=\"visually-hidden\">class of <\/span>\u201918)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1774\" src=\"https:\/\/uvaalumni.org\/ridley\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/44\/2024\/07\/Tyler-Ambrose.webp\" alt=\"Tyler Ambrose\" width=\"240\" height=\"300\" \/>Tyler Ambrose was a Flagship Ridley Scholar and Echols Scholar at the University of Virginia. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics Honors and a minor in History. While at the University, Tyler was Co-Chair of the Housing and Residence Life Program, President of the Black Male Initiative, and King of the IMP Society. Following graduation, Tyler worked as Assistant to the Dean for Special Projects at UVA\u2019s School of Law and joined the Gamma Alpha Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. After working, he earned his Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School, where he served as Chair of the Social and Cultural Affairs Committee of the Black Law Students Association. Currently, Tyler is a general corporate associate at Kirkland &amp; Ellis, LLP in Houston, TX.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span class=\"h5\"><strong>Eugene L. Anderson (<abbr title=\"School of Architecture\">Arch<\/abbr> <span class=\"visually-hidden\">class of <\/span>\u201998, <abbr title=\"School of Education &amp; Human Development\">Educ<\/abbr> <span class=\"visually-hidden\">class of <\/span>\u201901)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1781\" src=\"https:\/\/uvaalumni.org\/ridley\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/44\/2024\/07\/Eugene-Anderson.webp\" alt=\"Eugene L. Anderson\" width=\"240\" height=\"300\" \/>Eugene L. Anderson, Ph.D., earned his doctorate in Education Policy from UVA in 2001. He also holds a Master&#8217;s degree in Urban and Environmental Planning from UVA&#8217;s School of Architecture (1998). While at UVA, Eugene worked as a mentor with UVA&#8217;s Athletic Department&#8217;s Academic Affairs office and was a leader in what is now known as the Black Graduate and Professional Student Organization (BGPSO). Eugene was also a volunteer mentor and coach with the Charlottesville High School Football team. Eugene currently works at Columbia University in the Office of Alumni and Development as the first Assistant Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer. This new role provides leadership across the university&#8217;s alumni and development staff. His focus is working internally to increase staff diversity at all levels and make the Alumni and Development teams across Columbia more inclusive for persons from all backgrounds.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to joining Columbia,\u00a0Eugene served as the first Director of Development for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in University Advancement\u00a0at the University of Virginia.\u00a0Before his time at UVA, he spent twenty years as a leader and researcher in several higher education associations, including Vice President for External Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities (APLU).\u00a0 There, he led\u00a0APLU\u2019s\u00a0efforts to engage and support 230 big public research universities in all aspects of diversity, equity, and inclusion.\u00a0 At APLU, he also worked closely with presidents and chancellors of the nineteen historically Black land-grant universities.\u00a0\u00a0Prior to that, Eugene held leadership positions with the American Dental Education Association and the American Council on Education.<\/p>\n<p>He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania and is married to Gasa (Grimes) Anderson, a 1997 and 1998 graduate of UVA, College and School of Education.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span class=\"h5\"><strong>Dr. Paula Anderson (<abbr title=\"College of Arts &amp; Sciences\">Col<\/abbr> <span class=\"visually-hidden\">class of <\/span>\u201994)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1782\" src=\"https:\/\/uvaalumni.org\/ridley\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/44\/2024\/07\/Paula-Anderson.webp\" alt=\"Dr. Paula Anderson\" width=\"240\" height=\"300\" \/>Dr. Anderson currently serves as the Founder, President &amp; CEO of PACE Consulting (PACE). PACE is an award-winning Behavioral Health Counseling and Organizational Development Consulting firm headquartered in the Washington DC area. As an Organizational Psychologist\/Therapist, and Consultant, Dr. Anderson provides clinical counseling services; and consults in the areas of workplace wellness, stress management, organizational culture, change management, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.\u00a0 Dr. Anderson and her team also facilitate team retreats for organizations looking to build team well-being and cohesion.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Anderson most recently served as a Board member and Chair of the DEIB Committee at The Field School in Washington DC. She currently serves as the Vice President and Board member at The Renew and Revitalize Marriage and Family Institute and serves as a Board member for the DEIB Alumnae Board at the Convent of the Sacred Heart in New York City. She is also an active member of the Iota Gamma Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Anderson lives in Maryland and enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span class=\"h5\"><strong>Miles Braxton (<abbr title=\"College of Arts &amp; Sciences\">Col<\/abbr> <span class=\"visually-hidden\">class of <\/span>\u201918)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1783\" src=\"https:\/\/uvaalumni.org\/ridley\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/44\/2024\/07\/Miles-Braxton.webp\" alt=\"Miles Braxton\" width=\"240\" height=\"300\" \/>Miles Braxton is a clean energy enthusiast with over 5 years of professional experience working in solar development and asset management. He currently serves as the Director of Risk Management at Summit Ridge Energy, managing the company\u2019s insurance program and analyzing corporate and solar asset risks. Miles is formerly an associate at Goldman Sachs Renewable Power and Sol Systems, where he cemented his passion for equitable clean energy distribution. He started his sustainability career formulating energy mass balance equations\/stoichiometry and managing project milestones to convert chicken manure into electricity through anaerobic digestion.<\/p>\n<p>Miles is a co-founder of the BlackOak Collective, a network of Black professionals and students dedicated to sustainability. He served as BlackOak&#8217;s Director of Partnerships until the end of 2022 and launched the Green Gateways Initiative in which BlackOak representatives go into universities and HBCUs to speak to Black students about how to launch their environmental careers. The GG Fund allows partnership capital injection to help build the pipeline of Black students from universities and HBCUs into the environmental workforce.<\/p>\n<p>Miles graduated from the University of Virginia in 2018 with a B.S. in Environmental Science as a Rodman Scholar, minoring in Technology Leadership. Miles now sits on BlackOak\u2019s Advisory Board while leading another entrepreneurial team in the clean energy space. The Richmond, Virginia native has been awarded several accolades for his work, including: GreenBiz 30 Under 30, Rising Star: Gold (Cleanie Awards), Leadership in Green Power Education (EPA and CRS), and JEDI Champion (CELI).<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span class=\"h5\"><strong>Tony Covington (<abbr title=\"College of Arts &amp; Sciences\">Col<\/abbr> <span class=\"visually-hidden\">class of <\/span>\u201990)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1784\" src=\"https:\/\/uvaalumni.org\/ridley\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/44\/2024\/07\/Tony-Covington.webp\" alt=\"Tony Covington\" width=\"240\" height=\"300\" \/>Tony Covington graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in rhetoric and communications studies. While at Virginia, he earned All-Conference and Honorable Mention All-American Honors in football. After college, Tony was drafted by the National Football League\u2019s Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he earned All-Rookie Honors in his first season. He played for the Buccaneers for four seasons before finishing his NFL career with the Seattle Seahawks.<\/p>\n<p>Tony has spent the last 23+ years affecting change with established non-profit organizations such as the American Heart Association, Special Olympics, the United Negro College Fund, the NAACP. Tony has authored a book entitled, I AM UNDERDOG, A Journey of Adversity and Blessings and has started his own non-profit that services the life skill development and life planning of student-athletes. Tony is a mentor, an international motivational speaker and a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Tony is a proud husband and father and currently resides in Maryland.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span class=\"h5\"><strong>Kiera Givens <\/strong><strong>(<abbr title=\"College of Arts &amp; Sciences\">Col<\/abbr> <span class=\"visually-hidden\">class of <\/span>\u201917)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1775\" src=\"https:\/\/uvaalumni.org\/ridley\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/44\/2024\/07\/Kiera-Givens-1.webp\" alt=\"Kiera Givens\" width=\"240\" height=\"300\" \/>Kiera Givens was a Ridley Holland Blackburn Scholar and Echols Scholar at UVA. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Anthropology.<\/p>\n<p>During her time at the University, she gave tours and served as Outreach Chair for the University Guide Service, played for Hydra \u2013 UVA\u2019s Nationally Ranked Women\u2019s Club Ultimate Frisbee, served as a Peer Advisor for the Office of African American Affairs, conducted research in the Environmental Science Department, and was a Lawn Resident.<\/p>\n<p>Now in Atlanta, Kiera works in Revenue Management at Delta Air Lines and is completing a leadership development rotational program. Prior to Delta, Kiera spent several years working in environmental policy consulting and ocean conservation in Washington, DC. During that time, she also co-founded and served as Executive Director for BlackOak Collective, a networking organization for Black professionals and students dedicated to sustainability.<\/p>\n<p>Kiera holds an MBA from Duke University\u2019s Fuqua School of Business, where she was a Keller Scholar. In her free time, she enjoys playing music, hiking, and traveling.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span class=\"h5\"><strong>Shavonne Gordon (<abbr title=\"School of Engineering and Applied Science\">Engr<\/abbr> <span class=\"visually-hidden\">class of <\/span>\u201995)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1776\" src=\"https:\/\/uvaalumni.org\/ridley\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/44\/2024\/07\/Shavonne-Gordon.webp\" alt=\"Shavonne Gordon\" width=\"240\" height=\"300\" \/>Shavonne Gordon graduated from the University of Virginia (UVA) with a BS in Systems Engineering. She started her career as a Computer Systems Analyst, working in manufacturing for 5 years before joining Capital One, where she worked for 21 years.\u00a0 She spent much of her career in Technology before joining HR in 2014 to follow her passion for recruiting and supporting diverse talent. In June of 2022, Shavonne joined Morgan Stanley as the Global Head of Diversity for the Company and Infrastructure divisions, continuing to focus on the diversity work that is both her passion and purpose.<\/p>\n<p>In 2019, Shavonne was recognized by Savoy magazine as one of the Most Influential Women in Corporate America, and again in 2023 as one of the Most Influential Executives in Diversity and Inclusion. Shavonne sits on the board for the CALIBR Global Leadership Network and the Advisory Board for the Ron Brown Scholars Program.\u00a0 She resides in Glen Allen, VA with her 15-year-old daughter, Simone, and her 20-year-old daughter, Kennedy, who is a member of UVA\u2019s Class of 2026!<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span class=\"h5\"><strong>Derek Green (<abbr title=\"College of Arts &amp; Sciences\">Col<\/abbr> <span class=\"visually-hidden\">class of <\/span>&#8217;92)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-1877 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/uvaalumni.org\/ridley\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/44\/2025\/07\/Derek-Green-240x300.webp\" alt=\"Derek Green\" width=\"240\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/uvaalumni.org\/ridley\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/44\/2025\/07\/Derek-Green-240x300.webp 240w, https:\/\/uvaalumni.org\/ridley\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/44\/2025\/07\/Derek-Green.webp 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/>Derek S. Green, Esquire serves as Of Counsel at the law firm of Obermayer, Rebmann, Maxwell &amp; Hippel, LLP. Additionally, he serves as Special Counsel at Bellevue Strategies, a full-service government relations and advocacy communications firm.<\/p>\n<p>First elected in 2015, Derek served as a Councilmember At-Large in the Philadelphia City Council. In this capacity, he chaired the Finance and Disabilities Committees and was the Vice Chair of the Aging and Law &amp; Government Committees. Derek was the Chair of the Philadelphia Gas Commission, National President of the Democratic Municipal Officials, and President of the Pennsylvania Municipal League. He served on the Boards of the Philadelphia Cultural Fund, Philadelphia Convention &amp; Visitors Bureau, and National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials. Further, he served on the Executive Committees of the Democratic National Committee and National League of Cities.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, he serves on the Boards of Bancroft, City Trusts, Girard College, and Krimson PAC. He is an Advisory Board member of LiveWork Philadelphia and serves on the Philadelphia Tax Reform Commission. He is also a panelist on \u201cInside Story,\u201d WPVI 6ABC\u2019s weekly political roundtable, and a contributor on \u201cThe Frankie Darcell Show\u201d on WDAS-FM 105.3 and 20 additional stations nationwide.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span class=\"h5\"><strong>Colette Gresham (<abbr title=\"College of Arts &amp; Sciences\">Col<\/abbr> <span class=\"visually-hidden\">class of <\/span>\u201993)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1787\" src=\"https:\/\/uvaalumni.org\/ridley\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/44\/2024\/07\/colette-gresham.webp\" alt=\"Colette Gresham\" width=\"240\" height=\"300\" \/>Colette R. Gresham graduated from UVA with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a minor in Government.\u00a0 While at the University, Colette was an active member of the Theta Kappa Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Alpha Kappa Psi Business Fraternity, the Black Student Alliance, and a Peer Advisor for the Office of African-American Affairs\u2019 Peer Advisor Program.\u00a0 After graduation, she earned her Juris Doctor from William and Mary School of Law.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, Colette is the Deputy Council Administrator for the Prince George\u2019s County Council in Maryland. She began her legal career as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Sheila R. Tillerson Adams, Prince George\u2019s County Circuit Court, 7th Judicial Circuit and later served as Assistant Legal Counsel to Maryland Governor Parris N. He graduated from the University of Virginia in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Business from the McIntire School of Commerce and a minor in Foreign Affairs. While at the University, Aaron was involved in extracurricular activities including the Varsity Football Team, student council, the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and Madison House as an active volunteer.<\/p>\n<p>Following his undergraduate studies, Aaron managed the Capital One, Call of Duty Black Ops III, Levi&#8217;s and Dockers, and Sony Pictures brands, directing marketing strategy and analytics at both national and global levels. In 2020, he earned his MBA from the UVA Darden School of Business, where he served as Vice President of the Black Business Student Association and was involved with the Student Admissions Committee and Darden&#8217;s Consortium cohort.<\/p>\n<p>After graduation, Aaron joined McKinsey &amp; Company as a management consultant, leading teams in collaboration with senior executives at industry-leading Fortune 100 companies to deliver on their strategic and growth transformation goals. Currently, Aaron works at Google, spearheading global growth strategy and operations for the Platform &amp; Ecosystems team. Lily started her career with the 2008 Obama campaign, where she delivered a historic victory in a battleground state before joining the Administration.<\/p>\n<p>Lily received her B.A. from the University of North Carolina and her M.B.A from UVA\u2019s Darden School of Business. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, UNC\u2019s Order of The Golden Fleece, and UVA\u2019s Raven Society. She is also a recipient of UNC\u2019s Jane Craige Gray Memorial Award and Darden\u2019s Michael Shermet Award and C.
