The Ideal Scholarship was created to identify incoming first-year UVA students who want to make the world a more ideal place. Recipients should be permanent residents of the Commonwealth of Virginia and should demonstrate financial need.
Recipients should demonstrate world-class leadership skills and intellectual capacity in various arenas, and have the burning desire to use these gifts to help others and create a better world for everyone. They should also demonstrate their character daily by being positive, humble, fun-loving and idealistic. They should have a very clear sense of self and the courage to bring about change for the benefit of all.
This scholarship is for $5,000 and is renewable for all years of study as long as the recipient maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, maintain significant involvement in and commitment to student and/or community organizations, and participate in a minimum of two activities that attempt to make the world a more ideal place. In addition to the monetary component of the scholarship, recipients will receive unlimited coaching and mentoring from the scholarship’s donor, Sunny DiSoco (Engr class of ’95).
